Overall I think the Factional Warfare(FW) game mode is being used wrong even though it is the perfect oportunity for CCP to create a start to a believable link between Eve and Dust514. I personally get no feeling that I'm actually helping anything Eve side or affecting anything in New Eden other than my wallet and stats.
How I see it ATM
-No clear or real insight on the Factional warfare. This means that after a fight, I don't feel like a just helped anyone, I don't feel like I was battling for something. When I go to start a FW battle I also feel no connection.
- Poor meta content Dust side. Nothing actually sells the "wars". It's bland.
- FW is actually just an easy way to stack squads.
Overall No reason nor want to help.
What I think would benefit FW
- Lets start with simple news, updates and other eve/dust stuff. This can be done easily by usaing the "Updates" tab. Adding news from Eve. Whats been happening, something big happen? Use that page to tell us. Factional warfare, keep us updated on the state of all factions. This is basically story telling, something I still think can make Dust player feel part of New Eden.
- Creating a believable image that you are fighting for a faction. I shouldn't be fighting for Gallente, by trying to detroying the Gallente MCC, because I spawned at Caldari MCC end at the start. Add the other 2 racial MCC's(Minmatar and Amarr). If I'm fighting for Minmatar I want to load into a minmatar warbarge(not one with Caldari banners). When the match loads I want to jump from the minmatar MCC, and see at the other end of the map the Amarr MCC.
- Stopping FW from being a squad stacking oportunity and create an factional battle system. Only allowing someone who chose Gallente as his/her race to fight only for factions allied with his race. Maybe we can use the new squad finder(1.5) to allow people to find racial squads for FW.
-Loyaly points. Create a reward system for fighting for your faction, loyalty points given for fighting for your race regardless of win/loss. Maybe create some racial styled weapons(not op officer grade, just named variants) and dropsuits.
-Salvage. I think that FW would be the perfect place to use old racial dropsuits as salvage, there are lots of of lil suits that have been in events, these would be cool to collect more, rather than refuse to use, so that you don't lose them. I'm referring here to dropsuits like the "Sate Protectorate Assault C-1" caldari dropsuit, or the "Black eagle" Gallente scout suits.
Overall what I'm saying is FW needs to be different to just being skirmish, Fw needs to sell the link to Eve a lot better, and until PC is actually anygood, it has the ability to make a believable connection. Fw needs to draw you into your Race's history, making you want to fight for it.

Disagree. FW is a place for greater organisation than random pubmatches. Additionally, restricting people to faction because of the race they picked at the start, likely an uninformed choice, is a bad idea.
Just like birth... Your are born into your race. Right now FW is an easy place to create the ultimate pubstomp. It's not about fighting for anyone.
They should bring back corp battles. Allow a corp to put a contract up for a battle. Not turf based, just a battle. |

Not turf based, just a battle. Corp battles are unrelated to FW if they're not territory based. This is a game - overly draconian and restrictive mechanics shouldn't be here.
My corp battle comment was more in the logic of finding corps somewhere to practice away from PC, without pubstomping.
I don't consider people fighting for their chosen race as restrictive, more as a realistic approach, Didn't see many Jews fighting for the ****'s just because the squads were stacked better.

You do get a choice, right at the beginning. I thought the Idea was "HTFU", reap what you sow mentality. Where decisions do effect your game.
